Foundations of Multicultural Education- Chapter 1

Reflection:
My assignment was to create a multicultural lesson plan that I could use in my classroom. I needed to develop a lesson plan that presents a topic from multiple perspectives. As I was developing my lesson, the most important thing that I wanted my students to learn was to accept others. My lesson plan was geared towards 1st-2nd graders, but could be used as a beginning of the school year activity for all grade levels. One of the most important core values is respect. As I was writing the activity, I based my lesson plan on teaching my students how to respect each other. I was able to implement my lesson plan after I developed it. I was very impressed how my students have grown as a "family" this school year, because they learned about each other and made connections. I felt that my lesson plan was successful. After I created the lesson plan, I felt that I grew as an educator professionally. I learned how to write a lesson plan while keeping a variety of aspects (gender, race, age, geography, class, language, and religion) in mind. I feel that I have grown professionally to better educate my students. I think it is important for each educator to analyzing lesson plans to reflect on the varying needs and cultural differences of each student!

My Lesson Plan:

Subject: Language Arts/ Social Studies
Grade level: 1st-2nd Grade

Title of lesson: All about Me
